I was first introduced to yoga by my older sister, she had been reading about yoga and thought it was fun to “teach me yoga” by making me stay in child’s pose and Savasana.  I was probably 10 years old.  As I got older, I took classes here and there.

I started a consistent yoga practice in 2007 when I took my first Bikram class.  I loved the way I felt after class and I thought it balanced out my running, but really, I just loved torturing myself a little.  In 2012 I completed my 200-hour training at Huntington Beach Hot Yoga, now Yoga Tribe, with Jason Wilkerson in a method inspired by Bikram.  Robin Hall led the philosophy portion of the training and I continued to study with her informally for an additional year.  As I began teaching and studying more, I realized I had gotten into the Bikram style for all the wrong reasons.  My personal practice and teaching have since evolved to be a little gentler and more useful.  Now I practice yoga because it makes me feel better and more content.  I want to help others feel this way by teaching in a way that makes yoga approachable for more people.

I have taught in a variety of settings including local parks, yoga studios, gyms, community centers, corporate offices and an assisted living facility.  Currently I focus on private in-home yoga classes.
